Breaking Bets: Man City and Spurs set for more penalties

Just once in the last five seasons have the blue half of Manchester been out of the top five in the ‘Penalties Received’ Premier League table, and after Saturday’s efforts sit top of the pile this time round.

Also in this bet’s favour is West Ham’s record of fouling in the area. Last season, the Hammers had six penalties go against them, with only two other sides being penalised more.

The real stumbling block for this bet could be Tottenham, although there is encouragement that suggests the 25/1 is well worth taking a chance on.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were receiving only their first spot-kick of the campaign at the weekend, but have been showing more willingness to get into the positions that could well result in a foul.

Erik Lamela has begun to show the promise he had when he arrived at the club in recent matches, getting forward at every opportunity.

The Argentine has, on average, been fouled more than all but five other Premier League players this season, and could be the man that lands the winning penalty.

And with Newcastle giving away more penalties than they have received in each of their last five seasons in the top flight, the big price on offer could leave punters left celebrating on Sunday.
