Tony Bellew slight favourite to win Nathan Cleverly rematch

Published:

Tony Bellew will finally get a chance of revenge over Nathan Cleverly when the pair meet at the Liverpool Echo Arena on November 22nd.

Cleverly was the victor in a tight majority decision when he defended his WBO world light-heavyweight title against the Liverpool fighter back in 2011.

But with the grudge rematch now scheduled at cruiserweight, Bellew, who feels more comfortable at the heavier weight, has a chance of revenge and has been made the slight favourite at 5/6 with Ladbrokes for the victory.

His Welsh opponent is available at evens with the bookmaker to pick up a second win over Bellew, while the draw is priced up at 20/1.

It promises to be a packed night of British boxing in Liverpool with Scott Quigg set to defend his WBA World Super Bantamweight title and Jamie McDonnell also defending his WBA World Bantamweight strap against Walberto Ramos with the winner facing WBO champion Tomoki Kameda in a unification clash.

Anthony Joshua, who is 8/15 to become a World Champion before January 1st 2020, faces a British rival on his next step to glory, taking on Michael Sprott in a British Heavyweight title eliminator.

There’s always fireworks when Cleverly and Bellew come together! Watch the pair clash after their latest fights in Liverpool back in July:

Liverpool star Callum Smith will also move a step closer to a world title if he can beat Nikola Sjekloca in an official eliminator for the WBC Super Middleweight title.

James DeGale and Stephen Smith are also set to feature on the bill but the domestic dust-up between Cleverly and Bellew is the one we all want to see.
