Bath v Toulouse: French side out to “Rec” Bath’s Euro dream
Published:A few weeks ago there would have been only one winner of this contest but as quickly as Bath’s good form has disappeared, Toulouse’s dreadful start to the campaign has been replaced by three wins on the bounce.
Les Rouge et Noir, who are 11/8 for the win, managed to lose five Top 14 games in succession before turning things around with back-to-back wins over Stade Français and Toulon before then seeing off Montpellier.
Bath on the other hand are 4/7 for victory but their recent form is cause for concern as they welcome the French giants to town.
Here are our best bets for the action at the Rec.
Bath’s flying start to the season has slowly come to a halt after back-to-back defeats to Wasps in the Aviva Premiership and Glasgow in last week’s Champions Cup opener.
Now they face a huge test to keep their European hopes alive taking on French giants Toulouse, who are on a run of three straight wins.
Despite home advantage for the English side, we cannot take the short price on a Bath win and are backing Toulouse for victory in their 140th European top flight fixture.
These two sides have met four times in European competition and on each and every occasion it’s been a tight affair with the losing side always picking up a bonus point.
So with that in mind, and our strong preference for a Toulouse win, it could pay to side with a French victory by just 1-5 points.
