Aviva Premiership: Bath the big weekend bankers at Wasps

A couple of the usual suspects have risen to the top already after five Aviva Premiership 2014/15 gameweeks, while one particularly big name languishes just above also-rans Newcastle and London Welsh at the bottom of the table.

Here’s our ever-reliable weekend accumulator, which will pay out at over 10/1 if all four sides do the business.

Bath to beat Wasps @ 8/13

Only champions Northampton have got the better of Mike Ford’s side this term, with that win coming by just seven points at George North and co’s Franklin’s Gardens headquarters.

Wasps may look a tidy bet at 5/4 in High Wycombe after winning both their home matches so far this season, one by four points against Saints, but three away losses don’t bode well for the visit of a side who saw off Sale on the road earlier this season.

Going by that line of form, after Wasps went down 25-14 at Sale’s AJ Bell Stadium last time out, Bath rate a solid bet.

London Irish +8 to beat Exeter @ 10/11

Hosts Exeter cleared this mark comfortably in their last home clash with Harlequins, but were beaten by Leicester in their other Sandy Park fixture this term.

Considering the Tigers’ woeful start to the season, that’s not great form going into this match against the Exiles, who beat Leicester at Welford Road in their last away match and only lost by seven points at home to Northampton in gameweek five. They’ll make sure it stays respectable.

Gloucester +12 to beat Saracens @ 10/11

Sarries are back at the Allianz after a chastening first loss of the campaign away to Bath, who leapfrogged Mark McCall’s men into second on the strength of the 21-11 win.

Gloucester were murdered 53-6 on the opening day at Northampton, but haven’t been nearly as bad since, winning their last two fixtures and losing the previous match by just three points against Exeter.

Such a decisive thumping at Saracens looks unlikely.

Northampton -15 to beat Sale @ 10/11

Saints have only cleared this mark once in three home wins this term, but they’re taking on a Sale side who were whooped 40-19 last time out away at Sarries.

They’ll be very lucky to avoid a similar fate against Jim Mallinder’s men.
