49ers @ Rams: Visitors to extend their winning streak to three

Published:

Civil war hasn’t deterred the San Francisco 49ers from their master plan. Despite endless speculation over the future of head coach Jim Harbaugh and reports that he’s committed the ultimate sin – losing the dressing room – the side have won two games in a row.

They hunt a third consecutive victory against a St Louis Rams side that will own the reverse streak should they slump to defeat.

Below, we look into the best three bets for the encounter:

San Francisco 49ers to win @ 5/9

Not only does the form book dictate that the Niners are worthy favourites, but the head-to-head history of the match adds further weight to a scale that’s already slanted in the visitors’ favour.

San Fran have won 13 of their last 18 battles with the Rams and took the last two matchups by a combined 58-24 score line.

Frank Gore to score a touchdown at anytime @ 5/6

Gore is the NFL’s fifth-best running back this season, with 365 yards galloped so far. The last time he faced the Rams he put up season-high numbers (153 yards) and scored a touchdown.

A repeat of that strong performance is certainly within reach as he comes into the contest in form – he has gained 226 of his total yards in the last two outings – and faces a defence that ranks among the worst in the league at stopping the run.

Brian Quick to score St Louis’ first touchdown @ 5/1

While things are pretty bleak for the hosts, a bright spot has been the production of their third-year wide receiver.

Developing into a go-to target for rookie quarterback Austin Davis, Quick has three scores in his last two appearances and has already bettered his yardage in the last two seasons in four games this term.
