United newboy Falcao odds-on to outscore Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney’s reign as top dog at Manchester United looks to have been short lived with new signing Radamel Falcao tipped to outscore the Red Devils’ new captain.

After seeing the Columbian strike ace arrive from Monaco on a season-long loan Ladbrokes has priced the former River Plate, Porto and Atletico Madrid man at 8/11 to score more goals than the new England captain.

Rooney, who has one league goal to his name from three games so far this season, can be backed at evens to outscore Falcao but the odds suggest he will need to score 16 or more fur just the fifth time in his United career.

The bookie has moved quickly to install Falcao’s Premier League goal line at 15.5 for the season and punters can get odds of 5/6 on either side.

News of the signing has seen United’s title odds trimmed from 18/1 to 16/1 and Falcao is expected to get his United career off to a flying start at 4/5 to net on his debut against QPR a week on Sunday.

The player is odds-on at 1/2 to sign permanently for the club and Ladbrokes suggest he could put even Robin van Persie in the shade this year with odds of 6/4 on the Colombian being United’s top scorer.

With a total of 200 goals from the 305 club games he has played so far it looks a safe bet that he’ll top the charts at Old Trafford this year.
