Price Boost: Crouch to add to Newcastle woes

Published:

Newcastle take on Stoke tonight knowing a win will ease the pressure on under fire manager Alan Pardew.

However, those of the belief that the Magpies’ winless start to the season will continue at the Britannia Stadium could be tempted to back Peter Crouch to play a starring role thanks to the latest Price Boost from Ladbrokes.

The bookmaker has enhanced the price on the lanky hitman opening the scoring from 6/1 to a tempting 7/1 ahead of this crunch Monday Night Football encounter.

Stoke have taken the lead in the last three meetings with Newcastle and while Crouch has hit just two goals from seven games so far this season, the Magpies’ hapless defending will have him confident of adding to his tally.

Pardew’s men have conceded first in five of their last seven outings in all competitions and after losing 1-0 to Stoke in this fixture last year a similar result, with Crouch on the scoresheet, is not too hard to envisage.

Mame Biram Diouf and Ryan Shawcross are the only other Stoke players to have netted in the league this term and with the lack of competition for goals clear to see the Price Boost makes Crouch the value pick to open the scoring.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth striker may not be prolific but he is no stranger to firing first in matches.

Of the 18 goals Crouch has mustered over the past two seasons no fewer than six have seen him earn a return for First Player to Score backers.

With Newcastle in such low spirits and unable to even buy a win at present, this is one offer that looks too good to turn down!
