Pardew leads Premier League sack race after 4-0 Saints rout

Alan Pardew is the odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his role after seeing his Newcastle side thumped at St Mary’s.
The Magpies went down 4-0 to Southampton and find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table with just two points taken from the 12 available so far.
Before the game rumours circulated that Pardew had privately been given just two matches to save his job but after the drubbing on the south coast it now looks doubtful the former Charlton and West ham boss will remain in the St James’ Park dugout long enough for the visit of Hull next weekend.
On the back of the embarrassing defeat to Ronald Koeman’s Saints, Pardew is now priced at 1/4 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post and Steve Bruce has emerged as an early contender to take his place.
Elsewhere, in the Premier League sack race Sam Allardyce is breathing down Pardew’s shoulders as the 6/1 joint second favourite to leave.
The West Ham boss takes his side to the KC Stadium tonight having lost two of opening three games of the season.
The Irons boss has privately been given the mission of consolidating West Ham’s Premier League status until the club moves into the Olympic Stadium but defeat tonight would add more pressure on the Upton Park gaffer as sections of the club’s fanbase continue to call for his head.
West Brom manager Alan Irvine is also priced at 6/1 after the Baggies’ 2-0 loss to Everton extended the Midlands club’s winless streak to four games.
With Tottenham, Liverpool and a rejuvenated Manchester United representing three of Albion’s next four opponents the upcoming match with Burnley could prove a make-or-break afternoon for Irvine.
And finally, despite going down 4-0 to United at the weekend, QPR boss Harry Redknapp looks safe at 10/1 to be next to lose his job.
Gary Lineker likened the Hoops to a pub team after the result but Redknapp is confident he’ll keep the Loftus Road club up and owner Tony Fernandes looks happy to back him … for now!
