Man Utd v QPR: LVG’s all-star cast to finally usher in victory

Published:

Manchester United have made some signings of the highest calibre in recent weeks and as a result the new-look Red Devils should finally feel the benefits on the pitch with a much-needed win over visiting QPR.

Ladbrokes clearly see Louis van Gaal’s team as the overwhelming favourites for victory at 3/10, the draw is out at 9/2 and a shock QPR win dubbed a 10/1 chance.

Here are three carefully selected alternative bets to consider away from the confines of the match odds:

Manchester United (-2) to beat QPR @ 15/8

Few teams will arrive at Old Trafford this season bearing as bad a record as QPR’s at the Theatre of Dreams, where Rangers haven’t kept a clean sheet since 1992.

The R’s have tasted defeat on their last five league visits, losing 17 times in 21 all-told, and have succumbed by a two-goal margin in consecutive trips during their most recent top-flight stint.

Harry Redknapp’s side were pummelled 4-0 by Tottenham on their only away day so far this season and although United haven’t put three points on the board yet, they’ve now got an attack which looks one of the strongest in Europe on paper.

Angel Di Maria to score anytime @ 6/4

While all eyes will be on Radamel Falcao, the man who made his debut at Burnley a week prior offers far more value to mark his home debut with a goal.

Although Di Maria was not prolific at Real Madrid he’s likely to play in a more advanced wide role for United and on international duty he hit top form, scoring one and directly assisting three more.

Manchester United to win 3-1 or 4-1 @ 5/1

If the handicap win is to come to fruition for United then it may have to do so by allowing a goal at the other end given their shaky start at the back this season.

Phil Jones’ injury is a big blow, while the backline could contain new faces Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind who are green to the pace of the Premier League.

Furthermore, only Chelsea have had more shots than QPR in the early throes of the season.
