Madrid’s Hazard pursuit is good news for Man United
Manchester United fans have been given a boost to their hopes of seeing Cristiano Ronaldo return to Old Trafford after Real Madrid identified his likely Bernabeu replacement.
Ronaldo has recently been gushing about his time in Manchester and said he could never rule out a return to the Red Devils.
While it is likely the Real Madrid star was mis-quoted – as is often the case – Real are taking no chances and are said to be keen on snapping up Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to replace CR7 should he leave
If quotes recently attributed to United’s new record signing Angel Di Maria – who sought Ronaldo’s advice before signing at Old Trafford – are to be believed it is a case of when not if the wing wizard leaves Madrid.
“I don’t know how much longer Ronaldo can put up with it at Madrid. I get the impression that he is not very happy,” The Argentine ace told reporters recently.
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea would command a figure of around £60m for Hazard but this is unlikely to put off Real who have proven their willingness to spend big with the captures of James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale and Ronaldo himself.
Ronaldo’s incredible reign as one of the most prolific goalscorers and match winners in world football cannot last forever but should he return to Manchester United next year the Red Devils would still get some good years from the now 29-year-old.
If Ryan Giggs can operate at the highest level into his forties there is every reason to suggest that CR7 still has plenty to give.
United look to pick up their first win of the season against QPR this weekend and after adding Di Maria, Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind to the squad before the transfer deadline look better placed to launch an assault on the top four.
