Back Liverpool’s over Man Utd or Arsenal’s home debut strikers

It’s not just the rude interruption of the international break which has got football fans salivating over the return of the Premier League, there is also the prospect of some stellar-named strikers making their home debuts.

Old Trafford hasn’t been this excited since Alex Buttner left the club, with the likelihood that rock-and-roll haired Radamel Falcao will be in line to get his first Manchester United start against QPR.

The Colombian megastar joined the Louis van Gaal revolution late on deadline day and the former Atletico Madrid and Monaco man will be the subject of enormous interest in the late Sunday kick-off.

No doubt a player with Falcao’s immense goal-scoring reputation will be extremely well backed to score at 3/4, especially with one of the league’s lesser lights in town.

While Falcao and his presidential motorcade were seen trundling into United’s training ground on deadline day, Danny Welbeck had already left the building to head south to the bright lights of London.

After a brief flirtation with Tottenham, he signed on the dotted line for Arsenal and following an impressive double for England in midweek, the Gunners’ new number 23 is also a tempting bet.

Then again, with champions Manchester City the esteemed Emirates guests, the 2/1 on Welbz to open his Arsenal account is understandably less of a concrete wager, albeit potentially a more profitable one.

However, there is another big name up on Merseyside in-line for a full home bow who should be taken over either of the aforementioned pair.

Mario Balotelli is no stranger to these shores, which was evident in an impressive Liverpool debut at White Hart Lane, and he’s certainly very familiar with visiting Aston Villa who arrive for the late Saturday kick-off at Anfield.

In his time as a Citizen, Balotelli racked up six goals over just four meetings with the Villans including his only Premier League hat-trick to date.

If 8/13 seems a little skinny, the Italian’s odds of 3/1 to score the first goal is also worth serious consideration as Daniel Sturridge is likely to miss out through injury.
