Liverpool star heads list of 5 likely January transfers

Published:

The new Premier League season is only a couple of weeks old and the transfer window only just shut, but that has not stopped the team at Ladbrokes towers from already discussing the next set of movers and shakers in the world of the English top-flight.

We love a good transfer rumour as much as the next bloke and after perusing the various daily news publications in search of some great football gossip, we’ve found five rumoured January switches that come with our seal of approval.

Featuring the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, here are the five most likely January transfer deals according to news.Ladbrokes.

Vedad Ibisevic – West Ham United

The Bosnian may have netted for the national team against Cyprus, but Hammers fans will be more interested in finding out whether he is set to move from Stuttgart in January. The 30-year-old has already hinted at the possibility of doing a mid-season deal and Sam Allardyce would happily oblige.

Jay Rodriguez – Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City are thought to be keen on the injured England forward, but for our money Rodriguez’s heart belongs to Spurs and the chance the move offers to reunite with Mauricio Pochettino – the man who helped the ex-Burnley striker hit his stride in the Premier League.

Sergi Samper – Arsenal

He may not be a household name, but that’s the way Arsene Wenger likes to do a lot of his business at the Emirates. The 19-year-old Barcelona midfielder could head to London, provided Arsenal pay the £9.6m release clause on his contract with the Catalan outfit.

Glen Johnson – Juventus

With time running out on his current deal at Liverpool, Johnson could opt to follow the examples of Ashley Cole and Micah Richards with a move to Italy. Juventus are thought to be keen on recruiting the 30-year-old and could bring him in for a nominal fee in January.

Jack Grealish – Chelsea

The Blues have wasted no time in making an approach for the Aston Villa youngster though the 18-year-old midfielder is unlikely to come cheap to Chelsea.  The offer of a bumper contract at a Champions League club could see Grealish’s head turned though.
