Hitman Treble: RVP, Mandzukic and Dzeko boosted

Published:

The international break may be a pain in the arse to diehard fans of domestic football but for misfiring strikers it can be a godsend.

Those returning from injury or struggling for form can use the international scene to reacquaint themselves with the goal scoring feeling while those in decent form can usually use games such as the Euro 2016 qualifiers to fill their boots against lesser opposition.

Robin van Persie, Edin Dzeko and Mario Mandzukic will be looking to do just that this week and Ladbrokes is boosting the chances of all three finding the back of the net.

A bet on this tasty treble all scoring in their respective matches has been boosted from 4/1 to an altogether more tempting 6/1!

Read on to see why each man should be backed.

Robin van Persie to score anytime v Czech Republic

Van Persie is yet to score for Manchester United this term despite returning from injury to feature in two games. However, the arrival of Radamel Falcao at Old Trafford means the Dutchman has something to prove despite netting 28 times for club and country last term.

RVP is in good form for Holland, netting in four of his last six internationals, and with Holland scoring in eight consecutive games against the Czechs this is his ideal opportunity to grab his first goal of the season.

Edin Dzeko to score anytime v Cyprus

Like van Persie, Dzeko is yet to net for Manchester City this term despite playing in the Community Shield and all three league games.

No one is more likely to score for Bosnia than the Citizens hitman though after netting two goals in his last two internationals fixtures.

Dzeko smashed 29 goals for club and country last term and is likely to fill his boots against a Cyprus side that has won just two if their last 31 matches.

Mario Mandzukic to score anytime v Malta

Unlike the other men on this list Mandzukic is already up and running, having already netted twice this season for new club Atletico Madrid.

The former Bayern Munich striker hit 25 goals for club and country last term and has taken no time to settle in Spain.

The Atleti man has netted in his last three international fixtures and looks nailed on to extend that run against a side that has only ever won three Euro qualifiers and has conceded two or more goals in four of their last five games.
