Fleetwood Mac to headline Glasto 2015 more than just rumours

Published:

With the September 30th deadline to register for Glastonbury 2015 tickets almost up, an influx of bets on Fleetwood Mac to headline the Pyramid Stage on any night has seen the band’s odds shrink like the kids in that 80’s movie.

As whispers gather pace that festival-goers will be treated to the sounds of the iconic rock band next summer, the bookies have been forced to slash the price on a headline appearance from 4/1 to even money.

The British blues/rock legends have journeyed through many manifestations since forming way back in 1968, but are still most famous for their gargantuan 1977 album Rumours.

The record remains one of a super-elite group of albums to have shifted over 40 million copies worldwide.

Nearly 30 years on it looks every bit like mud-clad revellers will soon be swaying unsteadily to the likes of smash hits “Don’t Stop” and “Go Your Own Way” in the fields of Somerset.

Others rumoured to be in with a good chance of donning the obligatory aviators and knee-length rubber footwear next year are Sir Paul McCartney at 3/1, while Morrissey/The Smiths and Prince share odds of 4/1 to rock up on the Pyramid stage

Following the surprise inclusion of heavy-metal giants Metallica at this year’s Glasto, fellow rock hounds AC/DC are installed as 12/1 shots, with Iron Maiden out at 16s.

Unfortunately for fans of sugar-coated boy band One Direction, cracking America doesn’t seem to be a free pass for the pastures of Worthy Farm, with the former X-Factor finalists out at 50/1 to pop their Glasto cherries next year.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It’s a case of when and not if Fleetwood Mac headline Glastonbury and the odds firmly suggest 2015 will be their year. According to punters’ cash they’d love to see Prince and Daft Punk complete the line up.”
