X Factor: ‘8-Piece boyband’ are now the bet to be on

| 29.09.2014

There were plenty of shocks and surprises on this weekend’s X Factor as the remaining acts were whittled down to 24 with the judges’ houses their next destination.

But in betting terms there are no eye-catching decisions being made when it comes to weighing up the market principals.

Jay James currently leads the betting with Ladbrokes at odds of 4/1.

The bookmaker has reported a “flurry of bets” on the 30-year-old singer following his continued strong performances in bootcamp with Simon Cowell’s over-25s contender already stealing the show.

But does the man dubbed the Pembrokeshire Powerhouse face some serious competition from the newly-formed ‘8-piece boyband’?

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Jay James might top the betting, but assuming the 8 piece boyband make it through to the live shows it’s a dead cert their odds will plummet into favouritism. Cowell clearly fancies them as the next One Direction and they’re already looking like a safe bet to make the final.”

Italian singer Andrea Faustini is also available at 5/1 while returning contestant Paul Akister is next in line at odds of 6/1.

We’ll soon find out who’s made the final 12 ahead of the live shows with ITV broadcasting the judges’ houses auditions between Friday October 3 and Sunday October 5.

In the meantime, check out the latest odds below:
