Everton to battle Arsenal and Spurs for Nastajic

Everton are fighting with London duo Arsenal and Tottenham in a bid to land Manchester City outcast Matija Nastajic.

The 21-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad but has played well enough in his 50 appearances for the Citizens to impress Roberto Martinez, Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino.

In what is seemingly a growing trend, a loan move for the former Partizan Belgrade and Fiorentina man looks most likely, with City retaining an option to recall the Serbian after a season of valuable first team experience.

After shipping 10 goals in three games, six of which came courtesy of Chelsea to the weekend, there are obvious gaps in the Toffees defence that need urgent plugging.

As such, Everton may represent the best move for Nastajic if it is game time that he is looking for.

Arsenal and Spurs are arguably better placed to launch an assault on the top four and if a permanent deal is to be agreed the capital clubs will jump ahead of the Toffees in the queue.

But if it is a temporary deal that suits City then Everton could well welcome the centre-back before the window closes later today.

Everton are currently 9/1 to finish in the top four but those odds could well tumble of Nastajic and other targets like Tom Cleverley are signed in time.
