Championship Acca: Brighton and Derby among home wins

Published:

With two managerial casualties this week there has been plenty of off-field talking points in the Championship but the on-field action waits for no man.

With seven games played already the league is starting to take shape and as such winners are seemingly getting easier to pick.

With that in mind Ladbrokes News’ James Curtis has scoured the fixture list to bring you a tempting four-fold paying at odds of over 8/1.

Read on to see why Brighton, Norwich, Leeds and Derby should be backed for glory this week.

Brighton to beat Blackpool @ 8/15

Brighton may have lost their last two games but the Seagulls are unbeaten in three at home and will be confident of extending that run when hapless Blackpool visit the Amex Stadium this weekend.

The Tangerines have lost nine and drawn one of their last 10 outings, including pre-season, and have seemingly forgotten how to win.

With the aggregate score from the last three meetings of these sides reading 8-2 in favour of the Seasiders this one’s only going one way.

Norwich to beat Birmingham @ 1/2

Games between these two are usually hard-fought, low-scoring affairs but that looks set to change here.

The Canaries are second in the league by just a point and having the time of their lives in front of goal, with 11 strikes in the last four games.

Birmingham, on the other hand, are struggling at the wrong end of the table having not won since the opening day of the season. Expect another defeat for the Blues.

Leeds to beat Huddersfield @ 13/10

Neil Redfearn is staking a claim to be Leeds’ permanent manager after guiding the side to two wins and a draw from their last three games.

A 3-1 win away at Bournemouth is no mean feat and the confidence from that result will lead them to derby glory over a Huddersfield side that has won just one of seven games this season and four of their last 17 away from home.

Leeds won 5-1 in the corresponding fixture earlier this year so another rout could well be on the cards.

Derby to beat Cardiff @ 4/5

Derby haven’t beaten Cardiff since 2010 but the Rams couldn’t have picked a better time to end that run.

The Bluebirds have parted company with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a run of three losses and a draw from four games.

Steve McClaren’s side are unbeaten in five games and scored an away win over Blackburn last time out.

Back on home soil, Derby will relish playing a Cardiff side at its lowest ebb.
