Champions League accumulator: Atletico Madrid make fourfold

Published:

This Tuesday, 13 could actually be a lucky number when it comes to predicting four wins from the night’s tasty Champions League encounters.

That’s because our latest accumulator offering, which features wins for Galatasaray, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica and Atletico Madrid, is priced at just over 13/1 with Ladbrokes.

To some, that price could be seen as unlucky, but to us it’s merely a challenge – read on to see why you would have to be mad to miss out on this great fourfold, just because of a silly thing like superstition.

Galatasaray to beat Anderlecht @ 7/10

Anderlecht may be top of the Belgian Pro League, but the Brussels side has struggled for form on the road with three consecutive 2-2 away draws in the top-flight. The Paars-Wit have gone seven games away from home without a win in the Champions League too and could struggle here.

Galatasaray have lost just one of their last eight at the Turk Telecom Arena in the Champions League, to Real Madrid, and should have enough to see off Anderlecht in Istanbul.

Bayer Leverkusen to beat Monaco @ 5/4

A late Werder Bremen equaliser may have ended Leverkusen’s 100 per cent record in the Bundesliga on Friday but they should have more than enough to see off a Monaco team that suffered a third defeat of the season in Ligue 1 against Lyon over the weekend.

The Principality Club are back in the competition after a nine-year absence and could struggle against a seasoned Leverkusen side that scored three away from home against Copenhagen in the play-off round and have netted 22 goals in their last six competitive games.

Atletico Madrid to beat Olympiacos @ 4/5

A 2-1 La Liga triumph over Real Madrid was the perfect way for Atleti to prepare ahead of what should be a routine win in the Champions League, given the calibre of their Greek opposition for this encounter.

Diego Simeone’s side went unbeaten away from home in Europe last term, picking up wins on the road over Porto, AC Milan and Chelsea en route to the final of the competition and should be favoured against an Olympiacos side that went down 4-1 at home to PSG last year.

Benfica to beat Zenit St Petersburg @ 21/20

Out to avenge yet more UEFA final misery after their shootout defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League, the Lisbon giants should be backed for victory at home, having won five of their last six games at the ground in the competition.

Zenit’s away form in the Champions League is patchy at best, with a 4-1 loss to Austria Vienna in last season’s group stage a particular low point. And after going down 1-0 away to Cypriot minnows AEL Limassol in qualifying, there is every reason to believe we could be in for a repeat.
