Champions League acca: Barca lead way to see off Ibra-less PSG

Published:

The Champions League is back into our train of thought this week with another peach of a fixture list providing ample opportunities to secure some midweek funds.

It’s a tricky looking Tuesday with plenty of very short prices about, as well as one or two injury doubts affecting potential line-ups.

Nevertheless we have put together this very nice looking fourfold that pays out at a none-too-shabby 10/1 with Ladbrokes.

Here’s what we suggest…

Bayern Munich -1 vs CSKA Moscow @ 5/6

The Moscow side may be flying in the Russian league, but in the Champions League they have been far from impressive in the last year or two. Five defeats from their last five European games, with an aggregate scoreline of 17-6 says it all.

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern team have won four of their last five without conceding, and should have enough firepower to overcome a one goal handicap in this game to be played behind closed doors.

Barcelona to beat PSG @ 19/20

To wrap up this four-fold we are including last year’s quarter-finalists Barcelona to overcome PSG.

The home side’s talismanic forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to sit this one out, and with the Parisiens only winning 40 per cent of the games he has missed, they will be desperate for his return.

It looks a tough ask for them to break down a Barca side that hasn’t conceded a competitive goal since the final match of last season.

And with the Catalan club posing the quality up front that they do, it looks unlikely that they will leave the French capital without the three points.

Chelsea to beat Sporting Lisbon @ 4/6

Having failed to put Schalke to bed in their opening match in this competition, Jose Mourinho will be desperate for his side to get three points on the board here.

The Chelsea boss has hinted that on-fire striker Diego Costa will be fit to start, despite his hamstring issues and will be key to their chances in Portugal.

Sporting haven’t won any of their last eight Champions League matches, with that run likely to continue tonight.

BATE Borisov +1 vs Athletic Bilbao @ 19/20

To have faith in this one you need to forget BATE’s opening 6-0 demolition from Porto. They are simply a different beast on their own patch, having conceded just four goals in their last 15 matches at the Borisov Arena.

Bilbao on the other hand have started this campaign poorly, racking up just four points in their opening six La Liga matches, scoring just once in their last five. Expect the Belarusians to take at least a draw out of this one.
