Celtic Transfer Watch: Guidetti closing in on Glasgow move

Published:

It’s been a difficult start to the season for Celtic but it appears that there may be some cheer on the horizon with the mooted arrival of Manchester City striker John Guidetti.

The 22-year-old had been rumoured to be on his way to Serie A side Palermo.

However, pictures have emerged on social media that show the frontman about to enter Celtic Park for a medical ahead of what’s believed to be a season-long loan deal.

Guidetti is best known for his prolific loan spell at Dutch side Feyenoord in which he netted 20 times in 23 games, form that the Scottish giants will be hoping their signing can replicate.

Celtic have struggled so far this term under new boss Ronny Deila, failing to qualify for the Champions League despite having two attempts to reach European football’s top table.

And even domestically the Norwegian manager has seen his side struggle to make an impression, with the Bhoys currently sitting fifth in the table, six points behind early leaders Inverness.

However, the capture of Sweden’s Guidetti, coupled with keeping in-demand Virgin van Dijk, would represent a deadline day that can spur the Celts on to greater heights as the season progresses.
