Celtic a fine price to extend hoodoo over choice guests Aberdeen
The Scottish Premiership table has a rather strange look about it early doors as European qualifiers have taken their toll on fifth-place Celtic and eighth-place Aberdeen’s respective domestic form, but traditionally, this is a fixture Hoops fans relish.
To accompany this televised Saturday lunchtime kick-off north of the border we’ve offered up three best bets for the contest:
Celtic to win @ 1/2
Despite Celtic being winless in four all-competition games this represents only their second league outing at Parkhead in 2014/15, where they demolished third-place Dundee United 6-1 previously.
Aberdeen had lost 3-0 at home to the same opposition barely a week earlier but like Celtic can cite European involvement as a distraction, as they’ve since gone onto win two of their last three league games.
However, the Dons’ last away outing resulted in a 1-0 defeat at St Johnstone and they carry a simply woeful record on the road at Celtic, where they’ve been beaten the last 18 times in the Premiership.
Both teams to score and Celtic to win @ 9/4
A hallmark of clashes between these old foes over many seasons is a pattern of both teams finding the opposition net.
Five out of the last six meetings testify to this, with three of those fixtures coming during this calendar year, while it’s now five consecutive games since Ronny Deila’s side have failed to keep a clean sheet also.
Niall McGinn to score @ 10/3
The Dons’ Northern Irish winger will be buzzing after notching during his country’s 2-1 win in Hungary, which took his seasonal tally to a very healthy four goals already.
In this kind of form in front of the onion bag, McGinn’s price to make it three goals in as many games rates a very good one, especially at a ground where he notched twice last season.
