Bayern Munich v Manchester City: Citizen’s can nab straight wins

Published:

After bowing out to Barcelona in the first knockout stage of the Champions League last season, Manchester City will be hoping to put up a bolder show in Europe this time round.

First up for the Citizens is a trip to German champions Bayern Munich.

Here at Ladbrokes News we have scoured the markets to come up with these three bets well worth getting involved with for the contest at the Allianz-Arena.

Over 2.5 goals @ 13/20

We’ll start off with a straight forward one. Games involving these two sides in the premier continental competition rained goals in 2013/14.

Five of Bayern’s six home ties during their march to the semi-finals in the tournament featured at least three goals, with half of them having over four or more.

City don’t let the side down in this respect either. Every one of their visits to a European neighbour last season reached the target number of goals.

Thomas Muller to score anytime @ 21/20 or first @ 9/2

The deadly German striker netted both times when these two clubs met in the competition last year, and should be backed to do so once again.

With just the solitary goal to his name in these early days of the season, the 25-year-old will be keen to rediscover his scoring form that has adorned him to Der FCB fans.

He certainly enjoys taking on the English clubs with a more than respectable six goals in 12 appearances against sides from the Premier League.

Whether it’s a screamer or a simple tap-in from three yards, Muller is a man that certainly knows where the goal is.

Manchester City to win @ 4/1

Manuel Pellegrini broke his hoodoo of failing to defeat Pep Guardiola when the sides met last December, with the English club running out 3-2 winners in Germany.

A questionable performance against Stoke aside, City have made a solid start to their domestic campaign and will feel aggrieved not to have taken maximum points from their tie against Arsenal at the weekend.

Yes, Bayern Munich are unbeaten in the Bundesliga this term, but have looked a shadow of the side that waltzed to the title with relevant ease last time out.

We are banking that Pellegrini has his men on top form, but at the price, it is well worth siding with the visitors.
