3 Sporting Lisbon players that could trouble Chelsea

Published:

Chelsea go into tonight Champions league encounter with Sporting Lisbon as clear favourites but will be made to work for the win by the hosts.

The Blues are billed as the 7/10 jolly for the match, with Lisbon priced at 4/1 and the draw available at 11/4.

Chelsea have lost just once against Portuguese opposition in the competition, winning six and drawing one of their other seven but the following trio of players could well dent the west London club’s bid to improve that record.
Andre Carillo

The 23-year-old Peruvian, who has tricky feet, a blistering turn of pace and an eye for the spectacular, will be key to the host’s chances of an upset here.

Carillo has hit three goals in seven games in Sporting’s unbeaten season so far including two from his last four starts.

Islam Slimani
Algerian star Slimani has hit two goals from five games this season, taking his Sporting tally to 10 from just 28 starts.

With two goals in four games at the World Cup the 26-year-old is clearly not fazed by the big stage either!

Nani
He may be considered a Manchester United flop but many feel Nani was not given a fair crack at Old Trafford and this sentiment is strengthened by his resurgence since rejoining Sporting on loan.

The 27-year-old has scored two goals in his last three games for Lisbon, including a strike in the Champions League last time out.

The winger has had success against Chelsea in the past two, losing just two of the last six encounters.

Nani has scored three times in his last 10 clashes with the Blues and at 9/2 is a tempting pick to net again tonight.
