Ramsey can beat Alexis and Giroud in Top Arsenal Goalscorer market

Published:

Arsene Wenger heaped his Arsenal charges with praise after their 3-0 Community Shield victory over Premier League champions Manchester City claiming the attacking weapons he has at his disposal are the best seen in north London for years.

First-half goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey stunned Manuel Pellegrini’s men before Olivier Giroud’s thunderbolt fired the Gunners to a second piece of silverware in just three months.

And with new signing Alexis showing glimpses of why Wenger shelled out £32m to land the Chilean international and Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott still to return to the side, it is easy to see why the club’s fans are in buoyant mood ahead of the new season.

Arsenal are 13/2 to add Premier League glory to last season’s FA Cup success but its Ladbrokes’ special Top Arsenal Scorer market which could provide plenty of value for punters.

Just before half-time Alexis showed in one single move the danger he possesses and the pace he brings to this Arsenal line up.

A simple ball out of defence from Calum Chambers found the Chilean just inside his own half, a simple one-two with Yaya Sanogo later and the 25-year-old was bearing down on the City goal.

Willy Caballero was up to the task this time but it showed why Wenger was desperate to add the former Barcelona man to his ranks and with Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere and Ozil providing the ammunition it’s easy to see why he is 13/8 favourite to finish as top team scorer.

But with most international imports taking time to settle in English football it may be wise to look elsewhere in this highly competitive market.

It is Aaron Ramsey at 9/1 with the bookmaker who catches the eye most in this market after his heroics of last season.

The Welsh international was the Gunners’ hero in the FA Cup final but it was his 10 league goals, despite missing three months of the campaign through injury, which impressed the most.

Despite plenty of criticism Olivier Giroud will rival the Welshman after top scoring for the Gunners with 16 goals, and after his Wembley strike he is 7/4 to top the charts once again.

He will certainly get plenty of chances in this Arsenal line-up but one major danger is Wenger relying too heavily on him as a lone striker, resulting in burnout later in the season.

Theo Walcott (5/1) will play a huge part for the Gunners once he returns from injury but with Wenger not expected to rush the England international back from injury he may not be fully up to speed until October.

Lukas Podolski (25/1) is another forward with a keen eye for goal but with his playing time set to be limited once again there are better options available.

Therefore we are backing Welshman Ramsey, who continued his goal scoring exploits at Wembley on Sunday, to shine once again.
