QPR linked to bid for Marseille outcast and World Cup star

Harry Redknapp’s quest to help QPR avoid the drop on their first season back in the Premier League could see the Rs boss turn to Olympique Marseille outcast Andre Ayew.

The Rangers manager is already under pressure to produce results following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, with the Londoners losing to Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur in successive weekends.

A lack of goals is also a concern for the newly-promoted side, with QPR yet to get off the mark in the top flight this season and striker Charlie Austin guilty of missing their best chance yet from the spot against the Tigers on the opening day.

This lack of spark in front of net could prompt club owner Tony Fernandes to authorise a deal to sign Andre Ayew from Marseille, with the Ghana international keen to depart the Ligue 1 club following the arrival of new Argentine manager Marcelo Biesla.

Valued at around £8 million, several French media outlets have linked QPR with a move for the attacking midfielder, who was one of the few to impress for the Black Stars at the World Cup, scoring goals against Team USA and Germany during the group phase.

Ayew has long been linked with a move to England, having previously expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.

Liverpool were, at one time this summer, even linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who has played alongside his brother Jordan Ayew at the Ligue 1 giants over the past few seasons.

A quick and energetic attacker, capable of playing either on the wing or as a second striker, Ayew could be the ideal foil for the likes of Bobby Zamora and Charlie Austin at Loftus Road.

And should the Ghanian opt to sign for Rangers in the coming days, then QPR could find themselves quickly climbing up the table and away from relegation under Redknapp.
