Price Boost: Ladbrokes enhance Spurs’ top 4 odds

Published:

Tottenham fans could be clamouring to back their side for a top four finish following the latest price boost from Ladbrokes.

As part of its Premier League countdown the bookmaker has boosted Spurs’ odds for a top four finish from 7/2 to a far more tempting 5/1.

Confidence is on the up at White Hart Lane after Tim Sherwood was replaced in the dugout by Mauricio Pochettino on the back of a sensational season at Southampton which saw the south coast side lauded for their attractive and attacking style of play.

However, the price may only tempt the staunchest of Lilywhites’ fans given Pochettino’s lack of transfer activity so far this summer.

While the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Everton have set about adding real quality to their squads Spurs fans have yet to see anything approaching a marquee signing.

Swansea’s Ben Davies has been drafted in to shore up the defence along with hot prospect Eric Dier from Sporting Lisbon, while Michel Vorm has also joined from Liberty Stadium to provide competition in goal for Hugo Lloris.

None of these three players seem likely to elevate Tottenham enough to see them secure a first top four finish since the days of Harry Redknapp though.

Time is running out for the Argentine to add to his squad and so Spurs fans will be hoping that the plethora of players bought with the Gareth Bale money finally start to shine.

The likes of Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli and Paulinho failed to adjust to life in the English top flight last term, with just Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches showing glimpses of why they were brought in.

If Pochettino can add to his squad over the coming weeks or get the aforementioned underperformers to up their game then Spurs may have a chance of gate crashing the Champions League places.

But as it stands there are at least six teams better equipped to mount a challenge for a spot among the top four.
