PGA C’ship Power Rankings: Fowler has major-ly good case

Published:

The last major in the 2014 calendar is nearly upon us with the PGA Championship at Valhalla and it would be slapdash of us here at news.ladbrokes not to offer our own top picks to lift the coveted trophy.

If these prices don’t float your boat however, check out our three selected long-shots.

1. Rory McIlroy 5/1

Hotter than the Australian outback in mid-summer right now following his Open Championship and Bridgestone wins. If the world number one brings his A game, then no one can touch him.

2. Rickie Fowler 20/1

The jazzily-dressed American has posted top fives in the first three majors of the year. Nothing more to add your honour.

3. Jim Furyk 33/1

Consistency is the key to the American’s game who is on course to be among the season’s top earners yet again. Three runners-up placements in the year, fourth at The Open, 2nd in Canada and 15th at Bridegstone.

4. Adam Scott 12/1

Deposed as world number one by McIlroy, but that won’t faze the cool Aussie who has recorded five straight top 10s leading up to Valhalla, including a win at the Crowne Plaza.

5. Sergio Garcia 16/1

Hot on Rory’s heels in the last two tournaments, Garcia has never been closer to winning that elusive major, but that fragile psyche is still an anvil on his chances.

6. Jimmy Walker 40/1

The highest earner on the PGA Tour this season has to command respect with three wins and top 10s in the first two majors of 2014.

7. Keegan Bradley 25/1

The 2011 champion has hit form at the perfect time for a tilt at his second PGA title. The American’s tied fourth at the Bridgestone was his third in his last six starts, which includes the US Open.

8. Graeme McDowell 40/1

The 2010 US Open champion is always a threat at the majors and is another to have hit form, His T8 at Firestone was his fifth consecutive top 10.
