Liverpool star among the best 3 each-way Golden Boot bets

Published:

Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona has opened the Premier League’s Golden Boot market right up for the coming campaign.

Sergio Aguero is the favourite to replace the Uruguayan as the deadliest front man in the top flight, but with injury concerns hampering his preparation he is by no means a guarantee to do so.

In such an open market though, taking advantage of Ladbrokes’ each-way terms (1/4 the odds for the first four) means picking some longer-priced options could be the best strategy for the season. Here’s three men we think have a good chance of earning a payout:

Stevan Jovetic – 33/1

With Aguero set to miss the start of the campaign thanks to his World Cup travails, Jovetic’s flying pre-season form could see him earn a starting berth for Manuel Pellegrini.

Should he carry that form – which currently sits at four goals in his last two games – into the domestic season, the former Fiorentina man could even keep Aguero out of the side when he returns.

Raheem Sterling – 50/1

Daniel Sturridge is the obvious man to benefit from Suarez’s Liverpool exit, but Sterling – who has two pre-season goals in as many games – could step into his England teammates shoes as the second striker.

Playing in a central role can see the England man easily improve on his nine-goal effort of last term, where he spent the majority hugging the wing.

Connor Wickham – 80/1

The man who saved Sunderland’s season with five goals in the final six games has already found the net in the summer warm-ups.

Chances of the Black Cats shipping Wickham off on loan again are slim and the player’s ability to go on a scoring flurry – he scored eight in 10 for Sheffield Wednesday last term – means he can push himself up the charts at anytime.
