League One Accumulator: Why Swindon and Preston push my buttons

Published:

After a couple of troubling weeks of in League One,with accumulators undone by usually reliable sides like Peterborough and Doncaster , we’re back with a fourfold featuring teams placed very much in the ‘banker’ category.

Available at odds of almost 8/1, Sheffield United, Swindon Town, Leyton Orient and Preston North End are all being backed for home wins – read on to find out why.

Preston to beat Oldham @ 13/20

A 1-1 midweek draw away at recently-relegated Doncaster continued Preston’s unbeaten start to the season and, with recent away wins over Rochale in League One and Scunthorpe in the League Cup, Simon Grayson’s side should have enough to see off Oldham at Deepdale.

The Latics have lost two of their last three competitive games going into this fixture and suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Whites when these teams last met.

Sheffield United to beat Crawley @ 8/11

After a bumpy start to the season with losses to Bristol City and Coventry, Sheffield United got their campaign back on track with a fine comeback win over Peterborough at London Road.

Crawley, meanwhile, went down 3-1 at home to Bradford City and could suffer defeat again against a Blades side that won the last meeting between these sides, 2-0, at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Swindon to beat Crewe @ 8/11

Swindon’s march to the play-offs last season was built on some fine form at the County Ground, with the Robins currently on a run of five wins from their last six at home. Scunthorpe United have already been put to the sword in Wiltshire and Crewe could follow here.

The Alex went down 5-2 at home to newly-promoted Rochdale in midweek to leave the club pointless. Worse still, Crewe have lost on each of their previous three visits to the County Ground.

Leyton Orient to beat Walsall @ 4/5

Orient have done well to bounce back from opening day defeat to Chesterfield, winning away at Oldham before picking up a valuable point against the in-form Bristol City.

The visit of a Walsall side smarting from a 3-1 loss to Yeovil could see the good times continue at Matchroom Stadium, with the London club looking to extend Walsall’s winless run away from home in League One to five games and claim a third straight home win over the visitors.
