League Two accumulator: Burton can maintain perfect start

Published:

Predicting the results of early season fixtures can be an unforgiving task but with three games gone we’re confident we can crack League Two this weekend.

While we’re well aware there will be plenty of twists and turns to come this season we think we’ve nailed down the movers and shakers who’ll be delivering the goods.

Here’s our latest rundown of the action with a fourfold involving Burton Albion, AFC Wimbledon, Tranmere Rovers and Mansfield Town paying out a whopping £302.97 from a £10 stake.

Burton to beat Newport @ 7/5

Gary Rowett’s Burton outfit are looking good to go one better this season and achieve promotion to the third tier.

Having lost out in last term’s play-off final the Brewers have made a lightning start to this campaign, winning all three games so far.

The visitors can maintain their 100 per cent record with victory over Justin Edinburgh’s pointless Newport side, a team who’ve lost four of their last five league games at home.

AFC Wimbledon to beat Hartlepool @ 10/11

Without meaning to adminster the proverbial ‘kiss of death’, Neil Ardley’s AFC Wimbledon may well be play-off contenders this season.

Back-to-back away wins against Luton and Southend respectively have caught our attention and the Dons appear to be a safe bet to follow-up those successes on home turf.

Sorry Hartlepool are yet to score a league goal and the fact that they’ve lost six of their last nine on the road in League Two – failing to net in five of those defeats – doesn’t bode well.

Tranmere to beat Cheltenham @ 13/10

Tranmere looked solid and resolute in their midweek 2-0 win over Wycombe and Rob Edwards’ side are picked to register a follow-up victory over Cheltenham.

The visiting Robins have made a decent start to the season, notching wins over Bury and Accrington before Tuesday night’s stalemate against Carlisle.

But their hosts here will be a tough nut to crack and can bring the Gloucestershire side back down to earth.

Mansfield to beat Dagenham @ 15/8

Ignore Dagenham’s recent 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Hartlepool. The east London side are in rank form, especially at Victoria Road.

The Daggers have lost four in  a row at home in League Two, conceding 11 times and scoring just once in reply.

By contrast, Mansfield appear to be upwardly mobile having won two of their three opening games and that winning feeling can continue here.

Three wins in their last five games on their travels is another encouraging sign and enough for us to place our faith in the Stags.
