Hipster Tipster: Bordeaux included in corking fourfold

Published:

While the masses become obsessed with whether Louis van Gaal is David Moyes MkII or if it’s only a matter of time before Mario Ballotelli sets of a Catherine wheel in his dining room, we are focusing on the real action this weekend.

Scouring leagues across Europe we’ve put together this enticing fourfold paying around 15/1.

Take advantage and you could be spending next week hitting Shoreditch High Street to blow a wad on the latest The National album or a beard grooming kit.

Bordeaux to beat Nice @ 11/8

Like a fine bottle of red, Bordeaux have matured nicely in 2014, and are now unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 Ligue 1 games. Two wins from two in this campaign sees Willy Sagnol’s side top the French pile.

With striker Cheick Diabate looking in decent nick, and everyone’s favourite former Real Madrid loanee Julien Faubert whipping in some quality balls into the danger zone, they look a nice price to continue that run.

Nice only just survived relegation last season, and although they have picked up four points so far, look set for their first defeat of the campaign.

PEC Zwolle or Draw vs Vitesse Arnhem @ 4/7

Having been let down by Vitesse last week, now is the time to oppose them.

The way they threw away a lead against Cambuur reverted back to the type of performance that saw them taken apart by Ajax on the opening weekend.

Zwolle, meanwhile, have claimed a maximum of six points, showing great resolve to grind out a result against Dordecht last time out, despite having a man disadvantage.

Even the loan signing of Josh McEachran won’t be enough for FC Hollywood aan de Rijn to claim all three points at Iksseldelta Stadion.

St Etienne v Rennes – Over 2.5 Goals @ Evens

Every hipster tipster worth his salt knows that Ligue 1 generally isn’t the place to find goals.

But in taking apart Evian 6-2 last weekend, Rennes well and truly dispelled that myth, for a week or two at least.

Now, it would be foolish to assume that the goals will continue to flow here, but if there’s a bandwagon around, I’m jumping on it.

In conceding twice in Gaillard, Rennes have now let in more than one goal their last four in all competitions.

St Etienne are usually steady at the back, but with Ola Toivonen and Paul Ntep looking strong, we fancy there to be plenty of goalmouth action.

Real Sociedad to beat Eibar @ 23/20

Despite being away from home, at odds against, Real Sociedad simply have to go into this fourfold against newcomers Eibar.

Arsenal old-boy Carlos Vela has been in decent nick in his last two seasons in La Liga, netting 15 and 16 times respectively in each campaign, and will fancy his chances here.

Eibar weren’t perpetual scorers in the Segunda Division last year, and with last season’s top scorer Jote now at Brentford, it is tricky to see where the goals will come from.

Expect them to receive a baptism of fire.
