Championship accumulator: Norwich and Millwall tipped

Published:

The Championship has lived up to its ‘unpredictable’ tag so far this season with Fulham disappointing at every opportunity and Nottingham Forest flying out the gates.

However, this week has thrown up some fixtures that look pretty easy to call given the state of the form guide.

Ladbrokes News’ James Curtis has stated the case for Norwich, Derby, Millwall and Cardiff in a Championship acca paying out at over 14/1.

Norwich to beat Bournemouth @ 21/20

The Canaries started the season with a shock 1-0 loss to Wolves but have bounced back with three successive wins thanks to the form of ex-Cherries man Lewis Grabban.

The striker has four goals from as many Championship games and is likely to prove the difference here.

Grabban’s replacement at Dean Court – Callum Wilson – has hit four goals in five games in all competitions and will spearhead the Cherries’ attack but having lost two on the bounce in the league Eddie Howe’s men look doomed to defeat.

Derby to beat Ipswich @ 7/10

Ipswich started the season with a bang after putting Fulham to the sword but have gone off the boil since with a League Cup exit and one point from three games in the Championship.

All three recent defeats came by a narrow 1-0 scoreline and the Tractor Boys – who were unlucky to not pick up at least a point against Norwich – will be confident having taken four points off the Rams last term.

However, a return to winning ways may have to wait with Steve McClaren’s County flying high after a 5-1 demolition of the Cottagers last time out in the Championship and winning eight of their last nine at home on in the league.

Millwall to beat Blackpool @ 8/11

Millwall boss Ian Holloway will put sentiment to one side to add to his old club’s woes as Blackpool visit the Den this weekend.

Millwall may have lost to Rotherham last time out but home wins against Bournemouth and Leeds suggest the visiting Tangerines will be put to the sword with relative ease.

Pool have lost seven games in a row dating back to last season and have tasted victory on the road just once in 17 attempts in the Championship.

Potentially the banker bet of the weekend.

Cardiff to beat Fulham @ 8/5

Any team priced at odds-against must be backed when playing Fulham at present.

The Cottagers were fancied for an immediate return to the top flight but four losses leaves the Londoners rock bottom and fans calling for the head of Felix Magath.

The timing could not be worse then for the visit of title favourites Cardiff, who have won five of their last six in all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men took six points off Fulham last season and could put the final nail in Magath’s coffin at Craven Cottage this weekend.
