What we can’t wait to see in the Bundesliga this year
Hot on the heels of the Premier League the Bundesliga is set to kick-off this weekend and with Bayern Munich priced as 1/7 favourites a familiar season looks to be in store.
The German top flight is fast resembling a more fashionable Scottish Premiership and while Munich are obviously light years ahead of Celtic the competitive nature of the two divisions is drawing ever closer.
With that in mind here are a few things we can’t wait (or are at least hopeful) to see …
Dortmund beating Bayern to the title
At 13/2 BVB are the only credible rivals to Bayern’s title chase, with Schalke third in the betting at a whopping 33/1 and after their success in the Super Cup Jurgen Klopp’s side will be confident of causing an upset.
Klopp has grown frustrated at losing his best players over the years and fully expects Marco Reus to follow suit at the end of the season.
All the more reason to hope then, that the young German can sign off in style and bring the Bundelsiga back to the Westfalenstadion.
Lewandowski proving a flop at Bayern
The Polish striker is the latest Schwarzgelben talent to depart for the Allianz Arena and with each player that leaves Dortmund to join Bayern the likelihood that Munich will falter in their title quest diminishes.
Lewandowski will join forces with fellow ex-BVB man Mario Gotze and the title race would be that much closer if the pair were still playing in yellow.
Nothing personal against Lewandowski, but are we the only ones that would enjoy seeing him become the German league’s equivalent of Fernando Torres?
Nicklas Bendter banging them in for fun
Whether it’s questionable selfies, an outrageously inflated opinion of his abilities or fights with hotel doors Bendtner is never far away from controversy.
Mocking the Dane has got to the point where it’s no longer fun anymore though.
Not that the 26-year-old millionaire deserves any sympathy but in keeping with our desire to see things that probably won’t happen it’d be quite funny to see Bendtner living up to his own hype and smashing in some top flight goals for a change.
