Published:The starter’s pistol is cocked for the beginning of another brand new Premier League season, and to help it go off with an appropriate BANG, we’ve devised five unlikely but nonetheless entertaining things we’d love to see.

The classic David v Goliath fixture awaits at Turf Moor on the opening weekend and wouldn’t be great if the Clarets brought their slingshots. An 8/1 rated win for the hosts isn’t that outrageous after Manchester United fell foul to an opening day shock loss to Burnley back in 2009.
Jose Mourinho crediting the opposition rather than blaming officials
If Burnley beating the likes of Cesc Fabregas and co feels remote then how about the Special/Happy/Shameless One actually giving credit where its due. Oops, there goes another winged swine.

Liverpool behaved like the school bully after Southampton’s dinner money during the summer, as they simply wouldn’t take no for an answer regarding the purchases of Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren. There would be more than a smattering of poetic justice should Ronald Koeman’s new-look Saints leave Anfield victorious – available at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
Crystal Palace to smother the Arsenal title hype by doing ‘a Villa’ of last season
A rousing Community Shield victory over champions Manchester City has sent Arsenal expectations soaring. However, last season’s opener at the Emirates saw Aston Villa turn up and dispatch a shell-shocked Arsenal 3-1. Pulis’ Palace are 10/1 to provide another upset.
Big Sam doing a lap of honour if West Ham beat Tottenham
After beating close neighbours and rivals Spurs no fewer than three times last season, there could be worse opening-day home win bets than 5/2 on the Irons. Considering all the abuse Sam Allardyce has received pre-season, it would be great to see the big man milking it at the final whistle.
