Burnley v Man United: Ings goal among 3 best bets

Published:

All eyes will be on British transfer record signing Angel Di Maria when Manchester United travel to Turf Moor on Saturday but it could be Danny Ings who steals the limelight.

The Burnley ace is yet to score in the top flight since firing the Clarets to promotion last year but history suggests he could get his side off to a flying start against a fragile United back four.

The Red Devils remain odds-on at 4/7 to claim all three points despite their awful start to the new campaign so here Ladbrokes News looks at the better alternatives ahead of the early kick-off.

Danny Ings to score first @ 8/1

Former Bournemouth striker Ings may not have opened his Premier League account but there are few who doubt the 22-year-old’s ability to cut it in the top flight.

Liverpool were among the clubs interested in the Englishman earlier this year after his 26 goals from 44 games helped the Clarets regain their top flight status.

Of those 26 strikes nine opened the scoring for Burnley last year and with United’s defensive frailties well documented the hosts will fancy their forward’s chances here.

Burnley and Man United to draw @ 3/1

Historically the teams are miles apart in stature but the Clarets have been something of a thorn in United’s side when meeting in the past, avoiding defeat in six of the last 10 clashes.

The Clarets may have only won once – last time they hosted United in the Premier League – but with Ings itching for his first goal and the United win unattractively priced this is the best bet from the win-draw-win market.

Man United to win and both teams to score @ 9/4

Despite talking up Burnley’s chances of a share of the points there are plenty that expect United to pick up their first win of the season at Turf Moor.

With the Red Devils still not settled in Louis van Gaal’s 3-5-2 formation it certainly pays to take the longer odds on United to walk away with three points after conceding.

United have conceded in six of their last seven outings – including the pre-season run that had the Stretford End purring about LVG’s tactics – so expect a breach again here.
