Brook’s power can force a late stoppage against Porter

Published:

Kell Brook’s moment of destiny is upon us as he gets set to face unbeaten American Shawn Porter for the IBF World Welterweight Championship in California.

Brook is the underdog for the bout at 15/8 with Ladbrokes, while Porter is 4/9 to retain his world title but we are backing the Brit for success as one of our three best bets for the fight.

Brook to win @ 15/8

Make no bones about it, this is a very tricky fight to call. Both the unbeaten fighters have plenty of questions to answer in the ring at the StubHub Center and cases can be made for both a Team Porter win and a Team Brook victory.

But at the prices we are siding with the British man to bring the IBF World Welterweight strap back across the pond.

There is no doubting the fact Porter is a tremendously tough fighter and this will be the biggest challenge of Brook’s career. But this is also going to be the first time Porter has got into the ring with someone who possesses plenty of power.

The Sheffield man, who is 7/4 with Ladbrokes for the win, can bang with the best of them and if he is in tip-top condition he should have the power to wear down his American opponent to have success later in the fight.

Brook to win – Rounds 7-12 @ 7/1

Stamina has been a problem for Brook in the past as his first fight with Carson Jones proved, but with everything being on the line in California, the 28-year-old will have left no stone unturned in his bid to become a world champion.

The Special One is sure to be in the shape of his life and can really come on strong in the late rounds with his own power causing real problems for Showtime.

Expect Brook to leave everything in the ring against Porter and back him to finish the job in style in the later rounds at 7/1.

Fight not to go the distance @ 8/13

Both Porter and Brook have the firepower to cause each other problems and with the pair targeting a knockout victory, backing the fight not to go the distance looks a shrewd move.

With 37 KO victories between them this promises to be an explosive encounter and lumping on at 8/13 could prove to be the banker of the night.
