Breaking Bets: Coventry 100/1 to go unbeaten at the Ricoh Arena

It’s the news all Coventry City (and all football fans) have wanted to hear with the League One club agreeing a two-year deal to move back to the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues had been playing their home games in Northampton since the beginning of last season’s campaign after a dispute over rent but now it’s been announced that Steven Pressley’s side will play their first match back home against Gillingham on September 5.

With Coventry now set to enjoy home comforts once again Pressley’s men are the latest subject of Ladbrokes’ Breaking Bets series after their move home with the Sky Blues 100/1 with the bookmaker to go unbeaten at the Ricoh Arena this season. 

And after breaking the news to Ladbrokes Ambassador Chris Kamara in his weekly exclusive interview with Ladbrokes News, the TV football pundit was absolutely delighted to hear of Coventry’s return home.

“It’s absolutely brilliant. I could not be happier,” Kamara said.

“No team as big as Coventry, with their history, should be playing outside their own city. The Sky Blues are no different and their move back home is great news.

“Good luck to them going back,” the former Leeds star added.

Kamara, who enjoyed spells as a manager at Bradford City and Stoke City, was dismayed at how Coventry’s plight evolved and insists no club should ever have to go through this situation again.

“How this situation was allowed to happen in the first place is an utter joke,” the 56-year-old added.

“If this happened in Spain the local authorities would step in and take over to ensure it doesn’t happen. It doesn’t seem to work like that in England and that’s a shame. I don’t care what anybody says the football team is the heart of any community.

“Coventry have a proud history and the area was absolutely buzzing when the club lifted the cup under John Sillet and paraded it around the city. They had Jimmy Hill as chairman and have had some fantastic times so to have to move to Northampton was an absolute disgrace. Keep Coventry in Coventry that’s what I say,” Kammy added

“I’m just absolutely thrilled this situation has been resolved for everyone associated with Coventry City Football Club.”
