Aston Villa v Hull: Tigers’ torrid time against Villa to change

Published:

A look at the Premier League table heading into week three of the season would suggest there’s little to separate Aston Villa and Hull at this early stage.

An identical unbeaten record of one win and one draw from the first two games of the season certainly suggests the pair are evenly matched, but Aston Villa’s mid-week Capital One Cup defeat to Leyton Orient tips the scales in Steve Bruce’s favour.

You can find more stone-cold evidence why the Tigers will prevail in the three bets for the match, highlighted below:

Hull to win – 5/2

In the six prior Premier League meetings between these two, Hull have never won and only managed to score one goal.

However, with Villa’s previously mentioned cup defeat further highlighting their inability to score – Paul Lambert’s side have registered two shots on target from three matches – this is the best chance Hull have had to break their duck.

Both teams to score? No – 7/10

In all of those six meetings, bar their last one, one or both sides have failed to find the net.

Given the Villans’ troubles creating chances, this looks a very safe bet to be repeated in their first clash of the new season.

Of the four combined league games these two have played this term, only one of them has seen goals scored at both ends.

Andreas Weimann to score at any time – 17/10

If Villa do actually navigate a successful path to the back of Hull’s net, it’s likely the 23-year-old Austrian will provide the finish.

He scored twice in a 3-1 Villa win the last time these two did battle and has notched the midlands club’s only goal of the current campaign.
