Messi and Van Persie both get the Ladbrokes price boost treatment

Published:

Europe and South America collide again in the second World Cup semi-final and Ladbrokes have come up with not one, but two blockbuster priceboosts for Holland’s clash with Argentina in São Paulo.

Both sides posses plenty of firepower in their line-ups but in Manchester United striker Robin van Persie and Barcelona star Lionel Messi respectively, the Dutch and the Argentineans have two of the best goalscorers in world football on display.

Messi has hit four goals so far in Brazil, while RVP has fired three times at the finals but that has not discouraged the boomaker from enhancing the pairs odds to score the first goal of the game at the Arena Corinthians.

For supporters of the Argentine captain, Messi was 4/1 but is now 9/2 to fire the first goal of the game – a feat he has achieved twice already during this World Cup.

But if you think Oranje is the colour to follow then Ladbrokes have boosted Van Persie from 6/1 to 7/1 to fire first in this semi-final clash.

The Dutchman has not been on the scoresheet since Holland’s 3-2 win over Australia during the group stage but will be desperate to get back on track against Argentina.

Both players will be keen on helping their side reach next weekend’s final but both will have an eye on the Golden Boot and James Rodriguez, who is out in front with six goals.

The Colombian sensation is the 4/7 favourite with Ladbrokes but with Messi just two goals behind and two games left in Brazil, he comes next in the betting at 7/2.

Van Persie is three goals behind the Monaco star but can be backed at 16/1 to close that deficit over the course of the next two matches.
