Giving Juve cash plus Nani a must for Man Utd to land midfielder

Published:

Manchester United’s rebuilding process was always likely to be costly and the signings of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have certainly lived up to that, but should the capture of Arturo Vidal be made then the Chilean’s fee will trump both easily.

The Juventus midfielder has been on the Red Devils’ radar for quite some time and it seems, with the Old Trafford club ready to splash the cash in order to return to European football, this summer could be the time when he finally makes the switch.

According to reports though, the Serie A giants want £45m plus Old Trafford winger Nani before they are willing to let their star man leave and, while costly, it’s a proposal United should seriously consider.

When Louis van Gaal reports to Carrington for his first day of work as Man United’s new boss, he’ll find an endless supply of wide men available to him, of which the Portuguese man isn’t expected to be among his most fancied.

Nani had injury issues last tem and was restricted to just seven starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League.

However, before that his contributions to the side have been sporadic as he’s built a reputation of turning hot and cold quicker than a flu patient.

The wing is certainly not an area of weakness for United and allowing one of their fringe men in that position go in order to bolster a problem position at the club makes perfect sense, even if they have to spend big to get him.

Vidal impressed hugely in Brazil as part of a Chile side that reached the quarter finals of the tournament, and has been a lynchpin of the Turin side’s title-winning squad in the past few seasons.

Should he move to Old Trafford, the club’s 11/2 odds to win the league this season will likely get plenty of support.
