Everton among 3 clubs who should tempt Liverpool striker away

Published:

Fair play to Fabio Borini for digging his heels in at Liverpool, as the man who cost the Reds £11m two seasons ago wishes to fight for his spot among the mounting ranks of strikers at Anfield, rather than join Sunderland.

However, if as is being widely reported Liverpool are about to announce the capture of French international Loic Remy from QPR, then you’d have to assume Borini would still ideally be sold on by the 4/5 shots to finish in the top four.

After a successful season on loan at Sunderland, the club have complimented Borini by offering Liverpool a hefty £14m bid, which the Reds accepted but the Italian is refusing to play ball.

Here are three other clubs who should seriously consider tempting Borini away from Liverpool:

Everton

The Europa League entrants across Stanley Park may yet land Romelu Lukaku but that transfer hasn’t moved much since the World Cup.

As it stands, Roberto Martinez has a serious striker shortage, with Arouna Kone ring-rusty at best after such a long-term injury and Steven Naismith as an auxillary option.

Borini’s versatility to play wide in Martinez’s preferred 4-3-3 is also an added bonus.

Tottenham

Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane notched just 20 Premier League goals between them last season so the need for competition is obvious.

Borini scored 10 in all competitions for the Black Cats last season and seven in the league, so would offer a great alternative.

Newcastle

Having lost out to Liverpool in tying down their top scorer of last season, Remy, Newcastle could still do with other options harbouring Premier League track records to supplement their other arrivals.

Emmanuel Riviere and Siem De Jong look promising acquisitions, but Borini could hit the ground running and it’d be one over on their arch enemies too.
