After Chisora’s withdrawal where next for Tyson Fury?
Published:Make of Tyson Fury what you will but there is no denying he is one of the unluckiest men in boxing.
The Mancunian fighter’s bout with Dereck Chisora is off after ‘Del Boy’injured his hand in the build up to the fight at the Phones4UArena, meaning Fury has now seen three of his fights cancelled in the last 10 months.
The unbeaten heavyweight saw his dream fight against David Haye scuppered not once, but twice, with the former world champion citing injury twice as reasons for his withdrawal.
And now with his final eliminator for Wladamir Klitshcko’s WBO world title off Fury, who has a record of 22 wins and no defeats, is back to square one and without an opponent as he yearns a world title shot.
Oliver Yew takes a looks at three possible opponents for Fury as the 25-year-old ponders his next move.
Deontay Wilder
The unbeaten American is firmly in Fury’s sights with the Manchester fighter constantly calling out the Bronze Bomber on social media. The campaign to get a fight with Wilder will certainly step up now after the frustration of his cancelled bout with Chisora, especially if the former Olympian can claim the WBC title later this year. With David Haye set to come back into the fold competition to get a bout with Wilder is set to intensify but something tells me both Fury and the American star want to settle their differences in the ring rather than on Twitter. Wladimir Klitschko
Would the winner of the Chisora v Fury II have got a shot at Dr. Steelhammer? While the–rematch was billed as the fight for the right to face the top dog in the heavyweight division many pundits were sceptical about the bout’s final eliminator status. There is no question Fury would love to fight Wlad but would the Ukranian be as keen to fight Fury? It may take a barrage of taunts and abuse from the Wythenshawe fighter to get the current WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring world champion to put his belts on the line. And if anyone is brash enough to achieve it, it’s Tyson Luke Fury!
Dereck Chisora
While Fury will believe he can move onto much bigger things following Chisora’s withdrawal, his only real option could be to get a new date for this domestic dust-up. With ticket sales for the clash not going well it seems Chisora v Fury II is not a fight to capture the fans’ imagination and it may be best for both fighters to go their separate ways in search of world title shot. But if the pair need each other to get to their goals don’t be surprised to see this one rescheduled for later in the year.

Just after the news of Chisora’s withdrawal a frustrated Fury took to Twitter to call out the Bronze Bomber Deontay Wilder but instead used the Twitter handle of @LucyBronze to say: “Told you all what would happen find me a real man to fight the furios1. Pussys pussys pussys. @LucyBronze I want u punk.?”
The 22-year-old England international did see the funny side but don’t expect to see her in the ring with the 6’9″ heavyweight anytime soon after saying: “Hahaha the tweets I’m getting because of this…. Sorry to let everyone down, but I’m unavailable for a fight.”
