5 things we can’t wait to see in the Premier League

With the World Cup firmly behind us and pre-season friendlies underway the scent of domestic football is back in the air.

In a matter of weeks the 23rd Premier League season will begin and with a number of managerial changes and transfers there’s plenty to look forward to.

Here Ladbrokes News’ James Curtis lists five things he can’t wait to see – some for good and some for bad!

Alexis Sanchez tearing it up at Arsenal

Whether you’re a Gunners fan or not no one can deny that on their day the north London giants play the most attractive football in the league.

This was at its most evident when Thierry Henry was in his pomp and with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona Arsene Wenger’s men could be on top again.

Directly involved in 77 goals during his 141-game Barca reign, Sanchez promises to deliver fireworks on a weekly basis this term.

Liverpool struggling without Suarez

The loss of Suarez is incalculable and even if the £75m they received was made available for a like-for-like replacement it wouldn’t be enough even if one did exist!

The Reds came as close as ever to landing the title last year but look destined to miss out again. In fact, with United a shorter price to win the league (5/1 to Liverpool’s 9/1), the Reds could struggle to reach the top four.

The Kop faithful have been crowing loud about how the tables have turned with United finishing seventh last year but it’s all set up for a quick turnaround.

Van Gaal’s touchline antics

Despite guiding Holland to third place in the World Cup Van Gaal’s career highlight remains the 1995 Champions League win with Ajax.

Almost as memorable as that win though were the Dutchman’s touchline remonstrations, which saw him demonstrate a flying karate kick to the fourth official.

United are unlikely to have everything go their way this season so expect more of the same from the new boss.

Harry Redknapp on transfer deadline day

Love or loathe him Premier League transfer deadline day just isn’t right without the affable ‘Arry hanging from his car window describing someone or other as a “triffic lad”.

It wasn’t the same with QPR in the Championship last term so we welcome the Rs boss back to the big time with open arms.

Fernando Torres continuing to be rubbish

It’s close to being beyond amusing and just cruel – but not quite yet.

Chelsea’s underwhelming Spaniard has probably been bad for as long as he was good now but looks set to be given another chance by Jose Mourinho.

The Blues will hope the arrival of Diego Costa will boost Torres but neutral fans hope to see more of the form that leaves people scratching their heads as to how he was ever valued at £50m!!
