Super Mario can do it for Queen and country against Costa Rica

It was yet another night of heartbreak for fans of the Three Lions as England’s disastrous defeat to Uruguay left Roy Hodgson’s World Cup dream in tatters.

But don’t worry, now’s the time to cheer up and look on the bright side of life! England have lasted longer than Spain and are not yet out of the World Cup!

There is still a glimmer (albeit a very small glimmer) of hope for Steven Gerrard, whose header fell into the path for Suarez’s second in Sao Paulo, but it all rests on Italy delivering two wins in their final two group games.

The Italians face Costa Rica tonight and if England are to stand any chance of reaching the second round they will need the Azzurri to beat La Sele in Recife.

With the likes of Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge failing in their bid to become England’s hero, the Three Lions need a new saviour, so step forward the enigma that is Mario Balotelli – why always him!?!

The AC Milan striker was the scourge of England in both sides’ World Cup opener as he headed the winning goal past former teammate Joe Hart to give Italy to all three points in Manaus.

But straight after England’s painful and critical defeat at the hands of Uruguay the former Manchester City striker took to Twitter to demand a kiss on the cheek from the Queen if he helps Italy to all three points against Costa Rica.
