PSG primed to outmuscle Man Utd and Arsenal for French ace

Published:

Having emerged as one of Arsenal’s most-courted transfer targets this season, before Manchester United began eyeing him up ahead of the World Cup, it now appears both Premier League outfits may lose out on signing Antoine Griezmann.

The Real Sociedad forward, who notched 20 goals for the La Liga outfit this season, is now being hunted by French giants Paris St-Germain.

As well as the attraction of playing back in his native France, the Parisians’ willingness to pay huge transfers fees and top-end wages could yet be the deciding factors in Griezmann’s next move.

This is not good news for Arsenal or United who have been linked with many quality names already in the build-up to Brazil, but so far nothing has materialised.

Louis van Gaal’s the likes of Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas but both players appear to have rebuffed the Red Devils’ advances.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have also been associated with several stellar names, including Italy striker Lorenzo Insigne, though nothing concrete has been achieved.

It’s not really that concerning with the summer transfer window still in its infancy, but, a World Cup is notorious for bumping up premiums on players who shine at them.

Griezmann is set to star for France at the World Cup finals after opening his international account for Les Bleus in their last friendly against Paraguay.

And the 20-year-old attacker is now likely to play a more pivotal role for the 4/5 Group E favourites given the news that Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery will miss the entire tournament through injury.
