Napoli men can ease Arsenal defender’s transfer concerns

Published:

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny cannot be accused of beating around the bush after coming out publically to tell his manager to sign not one but FOUR top quality players this summer.

With Premier League title rivals Liverpool already adding fresh blood to the ranks, Koscielny is clearly concerned that Arsenal follow suit by snaring some of the continent’s top talent.

The Gunners are already regarded as 9/1 fifth favourites for the 2014/15 title with Ladbrokes and the France international has demanded Arsene Wenger sign a goalkeeper, right-back, midfielder and striker.

Here’s our proposed shopping list:

Goalkeeper – Pepe Reina – Liverpool

Sent out on loan to Napoli in order to accommodate Simon Mignolet’s Anfield arrival, Reina was reunited with former manager Rafa Benitez and subsequently went straight in at number one.

If the Italian outfit decide against making the transfer permanent from Liverpool, there are few better options available to Arsenal as competition for Wojciech Szczesny.

Right-back – Alvaro Arbeloa – Real Madrid

Another to have graced the Anfield turf as a Red, before earning himself a dream move to Real Madrid, Arbeloa has suffered from the emergence of Daniel Carvajal this season.

Still, with oodles of experience, especially of the Premier League, the 31-year-old Spaniard can be seen as a like-for-like swap with the departing Bacary Sagna.

Midfielder – Bastian Schweinsteiger – Bayern Munich

The glitziest name of the quartet, Arsene Wenger should have been straight on the blower after Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola revealed he’s willing to let ‘Schweiny’ go.

The 29-year-old’s signature would be a statement and a fine addition to the growing German contingent.

Striker – Lorenzo Insigne – Napoli

Of the four proposed transfers this is the one with most meat on the bones at present.

The versatile Napoli striker has shone brightly in Serie A this season, scoring eight times and assisting six more, while at just 23 he has plenty of scope for improvement.

Used more in a wide forward role at Napoli, he could slot in anywhere across the frontline.
