Manchester United striker to swap Premier League for La Liga
Published:Known to many simply as Chicharito, Javier Hernandez could be the first major casualty of the Louis van Gaal era amid reports linking the Mexican with a move to Valencia.
The Mexican has long been linked with a move away from Manchester United, with the forward eager to play more regular first-team football.
Tottenham were previously linked with a move for the 26-year-old, who has managed an impressive 59 goals in 152 appearances for the Red Devils, with many of those being as a substitute.
However it now appears that Hernandez could be set for a move away from the Premier League, with La Liga and Valencia offering one option to the Tricolor favourite.
Los Che are looking to compete for Champions League qualification next term, following several years of steady decline at the club following financial mismanagement.
There is some room for optimism this summer though after Singapore businessman Peter Lim successfully completed a deal to buy the beleaguered Spanish outfit earlier in the year.
That agreement could translate to some significant activity in the transfer market as Valencia go in search of a striker to fill the void left by Roberto Soldado’s departure for Tottenham last summer.
The La Liga giants could face stiff competition for Chicharito though, with Inter Milan also thought to be keen on recruiting the South American star.
A move to Inter would also allow Hernandez to link up with another former Manchester United hero Nemanja Vidic, who joined the Nerazzurri after his contact with the Red Devils expired.
But with competition for a starting berth at the Serie A club likely to be fierce, the 26-year-old may instead favour a move to Valencia and the opportunity to test himself against the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Regardless of whom he chooses, however, it would now appear that Hernandez’s time at Old Trafford is nearly up.
