Manchester United flop in talks with Galatasaray

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes is being offered a route back into management by Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The former Everton gaffer was handpicked by Sir Alex Ferguson to replace the legendary United man at Old Trafford but despite being granted a six-year deal was axed after just one bitterly disappointing season.

Moyes hinted that his next project could be overseas but while many expected the Bundesliga, Eredivisie or event the Scottish Premier League to be his next destination Gala have stolen a march on their rivals and have held talks with the much-maligned Scot.

Following news of the talks Ladbrokes have installed Moyes at 4/1 to be in charge at Gala for the start of the new season.

However, such is the state of Moyes’ reputation following his Red Devils disaster, the 51-year-old is being forced to wait and see if the club can secure one of their preferred targets – Jurgen Klinsmann or Joachim Loew.

A spokesman for the club is quoted by the Press Association as saying:”We just spoke with David Moyes and he said that he can come to Galatasaray but he is not one of the main targets for us.

“It is true the president talked with David Moyes (but) we are not in a rush, we are waiting for the end of the World Cup. The first two targets are Loew or Klinsmann.”

However, while Gala are keen to land either the USA or Germany manager this is much like Wycombe putting a bid for Matt Tubbs on hold while they wait to hear back from Lionel Messi.

Klinsmann’s job is as secure as ever after the US successfully negotiated a group containing Loew’s Germany, Portugal and Ghana.

Similarly, barring a disaster against Algeria, Die Mannschaaft look primed to make it to the business end of the World Cup, allowing Loew to remain in his role should he please.

Besides, even if either man walked away from the international scene it is likely that they would opt for a more challenging league than the Turkish top flight.

So, Moyes it is!
