Liverpool striker given the price boost treatment against Ecuador

It has been a dream week for England’s Rickie Lambert after he completed his £4m move to Liverpool but now it’s time for him to give something back to Ladbrokes customers!

The former Southampton man has been given the Ladbrokes price boost treatment and the 32-year-old is now 7/1 from 5/1 to score the first goal of England’s World Cup warm-up match against Ecuador.

With reports circulating that Wayne Rooney could be dropped for the clash in Miami it could be the perfect opportunity for Lambert, who is 10/1 to start against Italy, to stake a claim for a place in Roy Hodgson’s starting XI for the World Cup opener against the Italians on June 14.

Lambert has been in fine form at club level scoring 14 goals for Southampton which has subsequently earned him a move to Anfield.

The former Bristol Rovers forward has also proved he knows where the goal is at international level after scoring with his first touch in the 3-2 win over Scotland and scoring the Three Lions’ second in a 4-0 win over Moldova.

The Liverpool striker also has a fine record of notching the first goal of the game this season, scoring first on five occasions for the Saints.

Ladbrokes punters will be hoping he can cap a dream few days by opening the scoring for England against Ecuador and putting his name in contention for a World Cup starting berth in Brazil.
