Jamie Clarke can help the hosts put Cavan to the sword and justify his team’s slight favouritism as well as help salvage some pride from a poor league campaign that resulted in relegation from Division 2.
The anticipated returns of James Morgan and Ciaran McKeever will also shore up the home team’s defence and ensure a safe passage to the semi-final.
Having been hot favourites to win the first encounter at odds of 1/5, Cork will be keen to put this one to bed and make no mistakes second time around.
Last year’s All Ireland runners-up had to survive an almighty scare in the original fixture, coming from nine points down against Waterford, with substitute Bill Cooper kick-starting a Cork fightback.
Cooper has now been promoted from the bench to take centre stage up-front, with fellow forwards Seamus Harnedy and Patrick Horgan unlikely to be as quiet this weekend.
